TITLU în română Un nou tezaur monetar descoperit la Blăjani, jud. Buzău (sec. al XVI-lea)
Excerpt The author presents a coin hoard from the 16th century discovered on October 10, 2016 on the territory of Blăjani village, Buzău County. The hoard is a mixed one, consisting of 60 pieces, coins and fragments of coins, minted in gold (2) and silver (58). These coins were issued between 1506 and 1599, in Utrecht (a ducat), Cezayir (an altin), Tyrol (two thalers), Transylvania (grossus triplex-1), Poland (grossus triplex-1; grossus-1; ½ grossus-3), Riga (grossus triplex-2), Lithuania (grossus-1; ½ grossus-1), Gdansk (grossus-2), Royal Prussia and the Duchy of Prussia (one grossus for each) and 38 denarii (63.33% of the treasure), issued by the Habsburgs, as kings of Hungary, all at Kremnitz. Taking in account the fact that the last piece is issued in 1599 (grossus triplex issued by Sigismund III), the burial of this coin hoard is most likely the result of the clashes that took place in the area, between the Moldavian-Polish troops and those led by Baba Novac in October 1600.
